Reclaimed Wood Shelves

I am loving our new kitchen and especially the shelves that we added to both sides of the range hood. It really is one of my favorite parts about the kitchen. I thought I'd share a bit about how we did it. It was a fairly easy process to create them.

.The shelves are made from leftover walnut wood cut into 10.5" x 43.5" pieces. They are 1.5" thick. Hubs cut them to size, sanded them, and put a finish on them. They are the natural color with no stain.

The brackets were made with pipe fittings from Lowes. We experimented with the look we wanted and came up with this. I didn't want brackets there were very large visually, and I wanted them to be a bit unique.

Here is what we used to create bracket:

:: Two flanges that were 3/4". One flange attaches to the wall and one attaches to the bottom of the shelf

:: An elbow pipe 3/4"

:: A 4" pipe 3/4"

The parts all fit together to create the brackets.

I'm so pleased with the look of them! The cost for each bracket was a bit higher than we anticipated at around $25/bracket, but I definitely think it was worth it. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I'll be happy to answer them!
